Vanessa Barajas

Mentor Program Advisor

Vanessa Barajas joined the Fulfillment Fund in October 2015. As a Mentor Program Advisor, Vanessa is responsible for matching students with mentors, providing on-going support to the mentor/student teams, and conducting mentor and student orientations.

Before coming to the Fulfillment Fund, Vanessa worked as a Program Coordinator at Operation Progress LA in Watts where she managed the academic success of over 50 students, supported LAPD mentor/mentee and parent relationships, implemented grade specific programming, and maintained positive relationships with school and community partners.    

As a first-generation college graduate, she became passionate about educational justice early in her career which led her to become involved in Girls on the Run, Inc., AADAP Inc., the Los Angeles Probation Dept. JJCPA at Belmont High School, and served one year of service in AmeriCorps with Reading Partners LA.  Vanessa is excited to join the Fulfillment Fund allowing her to continue empowering youth in underrepresented and underserved communities to become college-bound and career ready.

 

Vanessa received her bachelor's degree in Human Development and a minor in Communication Studies from California State University, Long Beach.
