Gus joined the Fulfillment Fund in October 2015. As Director, College Success Programs, Gus oversees the Scholarship and Transfer Scholar’s Programs. He ensures that all our scholars are awarded and provides them support to help them stay on track to graduate college. Furthermore, he ensures that all our Transfer Scholars are on track to transfer to a 4 year university within 2 to 3 years. In addition, Gus manages the Alumni Association Board, a group dedicated to creating fundraising opportunities, organizing events, and keeping all program alumni informed of Fulfillment Fund activities. Gus also oversees the Fulfillment Fund’s summer intern program aimed at preventing summer melt, a nationwide phenomenon that shows students fail to matriculate in college the fall after their high school graduation.
Prior to joining the Fulfillment Fund, Gus was the Program Service Specialist for a non-profit outreach program called Cal-SOAP. There he helped students from under-resourced communities pursue a higher education. He made sure students were meeting their A-G Requirements, helped them with their college applications, and ensured students were receiving as much financial aid as possible. Growing up in an underserved community helps him relate and feel connected to the students he serves. He attended Cal State LA where he helped establish Hermanos Unidos in order to create a support system to help Latino males graduate.
Gus received his B.A. in Spanish from California State University, Los Angeles. He continued his studies at CSULA and earned his Masters of Business Administration.
