Jamie Ramirez joined the Fulfillment Fund in October of 2019 as a College Access Advisor for 9th-11th graders at both the School for Visual Arts and Humanities and Hamilton High School. As a College Access Advisor, Jamie will be facilitating in-class lessons of the college access curriculum and providing academic advising for students. As a first generation college student, she remembers having little guidance through the college admissions process and feeling daunted by financial aid requirements. Jamie hopes to bridge gaps in knowledge that first generation students, like herself, face.
As an undergraduate student, the lack of diversity within the faculty and student population left a profound impact in Jamie. As a result, she became committed to working with underserved and marginalized student populations of all ages. Upon college graduation, Jamie worked as a College to Career Mentor for college students with intellectual disabilities pursuing academic and professional careers. In addition, she taught history at the middle school level and worked as a special education paraprofessional at both the middle school and elementary levels, always centering educational equity as one of the primary goals.
Jamie earned a B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and an M.A. in Chicanx Studies from California State University, Northridge.
